Vogue’s Guide to the Black-Tie Dress Code

Huntsman x Country Life Style Diaries: Black Tie

What to Wear to a Black-Tie Wedding as a Guest

What the Internet says...

  • No cocktail or mini dresses
  • No linen; no sundresses; no pantsuits
  • Proper dress shoes are required (no sneakers or sandals)

what to wear to our wedding

how we're deviating from the norm...

as told by the bride & groom

for the ladies...

and finally,  for all...

for the gentlemen...

Our dress code deviates from traditional black-tie. The purpose of this flexibility is to support cost-effective attendance, and to pay homage to the season at bay
(because who wants to wear all black in May?)

We kindly ask that all guests honor the dress code that we've chosen. Please be respectful, and do not overstretch our lenient approach towards certain tradition. Not only are we very excited to dress up alongside our loved ones, the dress code is also in-place as a courtesy to the staff of Valley Regency.
Our version of "black-tie" should not mean that you're uncomfortable. We want you to be able to celebrate with us in full. We invite you to dress in colors that you feel comfortable in, though with one last caveat:

Please reserve all white attire for the Bride & Groom :-)
We've outlined some general guidance below on best dress practices. Happy shopping!
Ladies should wear a nice gown that falls below the knee. Evening-length/floor-length gowns are preferred; although maxi, ankle, ballerina, midi, and tea-length gowns are OK
Men should wear a dark-colored tuxedo or suit. A proper dinner or suit jacket is required, paired with a bowtie (or tie) in a color od your choice. Vests, tailcoats, and white-tie accessories not required.
  • No sports coats or blazers
  • Proper dress pants required (no chinos, slacks, or denim)
  • Proper dress shoes are required (no sneakers or sandals)
